A herd of elephants was seen in a difficult and dangerous situation in the early morning at Kasikote, Ambanpola, after crossing the railway line and the main road during the busy morning rush.
The herd, which included mother elephants and babies, appeared to be struggling to break through an electric fence. There were no large male elephants with them to break the barrier, leaving the mothers and young calves trapped and distressed as they tried to escape.
